We had a party at work today, since it was Laura's last day. We had pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris. It was good. Bof got drunk.

Hi. I found your journal randomly, and I must say, I'm impressed by your choice in user pictures. ^_^

Of course, Kikaider comes out on top in my book, but maybe that's just because I haven't seen enough of either one.

By the way, are you using S2? If so, how is it (complicated and powerful, simple and useless...)? If not, how in the world did you get your journal to look so friggin' cool? Especially changing what the comment page looks like - very spiffy indeed.

Thanks! My boyfriend is the one responsible for introducing me to anime. I started small (with Sailor Moon) then moved up to such things as Inuyasha, Ranma 1/2, Rune Soldier, and Gravitation; just to name a few... though I abhor Dragonball. All of them. Just thought I'd mention that. I like all sorts of speculative fiction, too... mostly fantasy, but sci-fi now and again.

As far as my journal goes, I do indeed use S2. It's a new system style called Component, available only to paid users. S2 itself is designed to be simple but flexible... a lot of the options only available through S1 overrides are just button presses in S2. However, there's no way to actually do manual overrides in S2. I haven't tried creating my own S2 style yet -- I haven't even figured out S1 enough to do that.

Yes, I must agree with you about Dragonball. Bad stuff, for sure. While I'm not into anime a whole lot, I do like to get my fix every now and then, and I'm contemplating getting Kikiader and possibly Inuyasha (if it's available) on DVD.

As far as books go, I agree that fantasy and a tidge of sci-fi are great. I just finished the Coldfire trilogy by C. S. Friedman, and she combines both elements in just the right proportion. Another great fantasy series I'm reading is the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin. He's got three books of a projected six out right now, so I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the fourth book in mass-market paper-back next summer. I've also read the first few books of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, and the funniest sci-fi/fantasy series ever: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. I also like horror/psychological thrillers, which means Stephen King and Dean Koontz are right up my alley.

Thanks for the info about S2. I may give it a try.

I'm adding you to my friends list. If you'd rather I not, just say so.
